DIY Copper Floor Lamp
Happy Friday! So I've totally been crushin' on copper! That should be a new # right?! So I did a little research and found one on pinterest by Sarah M. Dorsey Designs (details can be found on her blog). I decided I wanted to customize it to fit my space a little better...So I thought I would share what I did :)
Here we go!
Materials:
1- 1/2" 10 foot copper plumbing pipe
1-1/2" 5 foot copper plumbing pipe
3- 1/2" copper caps
1- 2x3" scrap piece (you only need 4")
1-Lamp Kit
Super Glue
Sandpaper
Paint or Stain
Tools:
-Copper cutter ($4.53 at Lowe's).
-Miter saw
-Drill
Step One:
Cut the copper.
Cut 3-4' pieces.
Step Two:
Drill your placement holes. Drill 3 holes (in a perfect triangle & use a template...it's easier trust me) with a 5/8" drill bit. Drill holes evenly. Also drill a hole in the middle where your lamp kit will sit. Once holes are drilled-cut your board using a miter saw at 30 degrees. (Some tutorials I found cut their's out in the circle-that works too). Sand & paint your piece of wood as desired.
Step Three:
Insert rods into holes to make sure they fit correctly. Once correct placement has been determined, remove rods & clean with ketchup. (Nail polish remover takes off the red writing).
Step Four:
Determine which rod you want the cord to run through (I choose the back left). Drill 1 hole in the top & 1 hole in the bottom (use a 5/16" drill bit). Thread the cord through the holes.
Step Five:
Attach the wood & thread the cord through the middle hole of the wood. Optional: Super glue the copper rods to the wood.
Step Six:
Attach the Lamp Kit per manufacture's instructions.
Step Seven: Attach the lamp shade plug in your lamp...and BAM you've got a super fun copper floor lamp!!
I hope you love this project! And don't forget to PIN it :)
